Lebanese-Style Poutine
Ingredients:
500g of homemade or store-bought fries
200g of halloumi cheese, cut into cubes
1 cup of tahini sauce (see recipe below)
1 tomato, diced
A few slices of red onion
1/4 cup of chopped parsley
1 tablespoon of olive oil
Juice of half a lemon
Salt and pepper to taste
Oil for frying
Tahini Sauce:
1/2 cup of tahini paste
3 tablespoons of lemon juice
2 cloves of garlic, minced
Salt to taste
Warm water (add until desired consistency)
Instructions:
Prepare the Fries: If you are using store-bought fries, follow the instructions on the package. For homemade fries, cut the potatoes into sticks and fry them in hot oil until they are golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels and salt immediately.
Prepare the Tahini Sauce: In a bowl, mix the tahini paste, lemon juice, minced garlic, and salt. Gradually add warm water until you get a smooth and somewhat liquid consistency.
Cook the Halloumi Cheese: In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the halloumi cubes and brown on all sides.
Assemble the Poutine: Place the fries on a plate, add the grilled halloumi cheese, and drizzle with tahini sauce. Top with diced tomatoes, red onion slices, and chopped parsley. Drizzle with lemon juice, then season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve: Serve immediately and enjoy your Lebanese-style poutine!
